Chris Backemeyer brought his campaign to downtown Norfolk this week, sitting down with First District voters at NoFo Pizza & Cafe to talk about his background and his vision for Congress.

As the Norfolk Daily News reported, Chris discussed his two decades of public service at the State Department — including his work helping negotiate the 2015 Iran nuclear deal — and the concerns driving him to run: rising living costs, healthcare affordability, economic inequality, and the growing influence of wealthy interests in politics. He also took questions on strengthening the Affordable Care Act, reforming the tax code so everyone pays their fair share, and overturning Citizens United.

On what’s at stake, Chris put it simply: he wants his kids to be able to prosper, and to know he at least tried to fix things.
